Props, books, sets, game components and specialized display pieces exist not only as tools or products, but as objects of art that represent the aesthetic of their creative team. These labors of love and vision frequently exceed the demands of their practical use and require input from multiple people with different perspectives and skillsets. Panelists discuss their work and creative process, and the way in which collaborative design produces a whole greater than the sum of the efforts of individual creatives. I’ll be participating in a sure-to-be-fun “monster vs. monster” panel at the World Fantasy Awards in Buckingham Panel Room 2. Inevitably I’ll be talking about Dagon, and/or Cthulhu, and they’re kind of game-enders in any monster vs monster showdown, so it should be interesting!
